The Rice Bioengineering Alumni Network was designed to help strengthen alumni ties to the department, and to help guide students with similar interests in career paths, or graduate, medical, or other professional schools.
The Department of Bioengineering is constantly working to develop leaders in our field through cutting-edge research programs and our commitment to superior teaching and mentoring. Our expanding scope of interdisciplinary experiences challenge our students and faculty to develop and implement solutions to global problems.
The Rice University Department of Bioengineering honors alumni for their excellence in research, teaching, service, or significant contributions to academia, society, or the bioengineering industry. Nominations and self-nominations are accepted every fall. Recipients are presented with the award at the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting in October.
Establishing collaborations with industry and government entities is very important to advancing science and engineering education and training. Many of our students enter non-academic industries after graduation.
