The Department of Bioengineering at Rice University, located¬†in Houston, TX, seeks applications for 2 tenure-track faculty positions with a start date of July 2019. Rice offers an outstanding environment for research at the interface of bioengineering, medicine, and biology with strong¬†collaborations with the adjacent Texas Medical Center. The department invites assistant professor candidates in all areas of bioengineering research with special emphasis in global health technologies, biomaterials/tissue engineering, and instrumentation/imaging.¬† Outstanding candidates at higher rank will be considered in the area of computational/ theoretical bioengineering.¬† Candidates in the areas of synthetic biology or neuroengineering are encouraged to apply to our university-wide searches in those specific areas at the second and third links listed below.
Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Candidates will be expected to establish a strong bioengineering research program supported by extramural funding.
Consistent with the National Research Council‚Äôs report, Convergence: Facilitating Transdisciplinary Integration of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Beyond, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to lead and work in research groups that ‚Äú‚Ä¶ [integrate] the knowledge, tools, and ways of thinking‚Ä¶‚ÄĚ from engineering, mathematics, and computational, natural, social and behavioral sciences to solve societal problems using a convergent approach.
