The Department of Bioengineering at Rice University, located in Houston, Texas, seeks applications for creative and motivated individuals for the position of Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow or Lecturer, with a start date of July 2019. We encourage recent PhD graduates with an interest in teaching undergraduates, but less than 2 years of teaching experience to apply for the Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow position. Candidates with more teaching experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered for the rank of Lecturer.
Both Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellows and Lecturers are non-tenure-track positions. These individuals would be fully engaged in the Bachelors (B.S.) degree program. Candidates must have completed a PhD in bioengineering/biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering by July 2019. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds. We invite applications from candidates with a range of bioengineering teaching interests. Responsibilities will include instruction in design, laboratory, or lecture courses. Successful hires will have the opportunity in the future to develop a new course in their area of interest.
Hiring a committed instructor for design is a priority for one of the open positions and we encourage applicants with industry or clinical expertise to highlight these aspects of their qualifications. For applicants targeting the design position, experience mentoring design teams is preferred.
